I did a Finger Funatics Parent Night last night with 40 preschool families. I started with talking to the parent group about the importance of fine motor (such as visual motor integration) and gross motor development (such as the importance of doing a cross crawl). I included talking about the amount of "screen" time a typical 4-year-old should watch (about 30 mins a day) so they can have lots of experiences with real objects in the physical world!
We then brought the children back to their parents and they each received a Finger Funatics Parent Companion Workshop Tool Kit. The bag was filled with simple items for parents to get started (such as tweezers, scissors, play-doh, clothes pin, etc.) The families had a great time doing activities like Treasure Hunt, Pom Pon Pick up and more.
They were able to fund our Parent Night together through the PNC Bank grant they received. Check it out...they award their grants by local branch so your school could get one!
